Rise and Shine Lakerland

I want to take some time out of my morning to pay tribute to the greatest PG to have ever lived.  Yesterday marked the anniversary of Magic Johnson’s last Finals game ever, where he triple doubled (insanely) against Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls in a losing effort in Game 5 of the 1990-91 NBA Finals.  Just four months after that Magic announced to the shock of the world that he was HIV positive.  I’ve always considered Magic to be a what-if guy, even though he’s a Hall of Famer.  His stats are ridiculous, and I encourage you to look up highlights of Magic (the dude played all 5 positions in a Finals series!).  But the real beauty of Magic was how he completely awed his audience.  If he had not been infected, I truly believe he could have been in the discussion.  He was an amazing talent as a player, and he has been an amazing talent in his post-playing career, too.  This one is for you, Magic.

Here’s some other tidbits that might get your eyes open:

  • Matt Barnes is feeling great after getting an MRI on both of his knees.
  • Glen Rice is smarter than Scottie Pippen.
  • Jose Calderon wants to be in Purple and Gold.
  • Apparently Pau Gasol for the Timberwolves’ #2 isn’t all that outlandish.

Good hunting Lakers fans.
